ROLE TITLE: Club Captain
RESPONSIBLE TO: The Club Committee
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Good thinking ability, logical and systematic
- Good judge of people and able to gauge their moods. (necessary to get the best out of each player)
- Fearless…never afraid to attack
- Doing one’s homework on each player’s strengths and weaknesses so one can use the player to the best of his ability.
- Related to the above point, the ability to read people and their moods…this helps the captain to respond differently to each player. One player might be motivated by a strong reprimand, another might get de-motivated
- Will to win but able to smile and stay positive even in defeat.
- Whatever the outcome to be a polite and friendly host to the opposition.
- Flexibility…to be able to change plans and respond differently to different situations.

- Ability to manage people
- Able to listen to and process advice.

ROLE PURPOSE:

To lead a Bramshaw Cricket Team allowing every member to flourish and reach their potential.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Select players in conjunction with the other captains according to the club selection policy.
- To make sure that Juniors are given a chance to participate and flourish.
- To be an astute tactician.
- To motivate and influence players on and off the cricket field.
- To have a vision of what he wants the cricket team to become.
- To ensure that all elements of a home game are in place i.e. teas, balls, scorer, score book etc…
- To show resilience when the chips are down.
- To communicate effectively and resolve conflict situations.
- To be a sporting statesman.
- To be an enforcer of the spirit of cricket
