Stats update

This article is for the badgers, statisticians and saddos out there, like myself, if you are one of these you are probably all three of them.

Stats update by Bailey Loveless

After a large gap in the stats recording from when Club Legend Andy Hart moved to Devon at the end of the 2020 season until now now i thought I may as well give it a go at getting it back up to date. After hours of extracting  stats from the old website (1984-2020) and Play Cricket (2021 – 2024) and using a lot of VLOOKUP’s, it is now in one large Excel file with tabs for batting, bowling, fielding & wicket keeping split by team.

We are having some issue getting this correctly on the website but it will hopefully be on here soon with stats as at the end of the 2024 season.

It would be interesting to see if we had stats from when the club was founded in 1877, you would presume that Bob Gray and Arthur Stickland would have the most runs and wickets!

Whilst we have no formal records of Nomansland Cricket Club stats before the 2016 merge with Bramshaw, I have it on good authority that John Barrett has the highest number of 49s scored (to avoid buying a jug!).

The stats are outdoors only. Pre-season and VKO games count as Club XI. Without further ado lets get into the numbers.

Overall Batting

As we all know Tom Arnold has scored a lot of runs recently with 2,000 scored in 2022. At the end of 2024 he had a total of 13,761 runs @50.22  with 27 centuries, he needs 239 runs to get to 14,000. He is however still 8,753 runs behind the all time leading run scorer Andy Hart who scored 22,514 runs @41.15 with 46 centuries. Tim Rogers (19,482) and Jamie Terris (15,530) are ahead of Arnold in the runs making him currently the 4th highest run scorer with Simon Booth in 5th on 12,417 runs and George Gray in 6th needing only 130 more runs to get to 12,000. Stu Stickland is the only other batter with more than 10,000 runs (11,472).

Others close to run milestones this year are  Joe Coombs 106 off 6,000, Mike Kingston 438 off 6,000, Zane D’monte who is 140 runs off 5,000, Ollie Vincent 270 off 5,000, Jonty Loveless 23 off 3,000, Dan Eckton 217 off 3,000, Jack Booth 472 off 3,000, Ben Chandler 10 off 1,000, Sergio D’monte 86 off 1,000 and Joe McNeilly 181 runs off 1,000.

Only Jon Wall and Jamie Terris have hit double centuries with Tom Arnold getting 181 in 2022.

Overall Bowling

Club Legend Mark Angel got to 1,000 wicket in 2022 which is a ridiculous achievement. He now has 1,002 wickets @15.82. Phil Curl who has taken up golf in recent years is 2nd on 833 wickets with Kev Gray (786), Ben Arnold (589), Tim Rogers (577) and Ken Turner (533) the only other bowlers with more than 500 wickets.

New Chairman Mark Angel is the only Bramshaw player to get to 1,000 wickets

Mike Kingston will be looking to change that this year as he is only 24 wickets away from 500. Jamie Martin passed 400 wickets last season kudos to him. Tom Mason was on 397 but got to 400 in pre season.

Others close to milestones are myself 29 away from 400, Jonty Loveless 31 away from 300, Will Ridley 3 away from 100 and Jack Booth 17 away from 100.

Jon Wall still holds club record figures of 8-26 but nobody has got 9 wickets in a game, will that change in 2025?

Overall Fielding

Kev Gray is still well clear in the most non wicket keeping catches department with 273 with Curly on 244 and George Gray on 225 with Jamie Terris on 211 and Tim Rogers on 200. Andy Hart needs another game for us with him currently being on 199 catches.

Despite taking this outrageous grab at Ryde last season Kaush Patel only has 73 catches. This is mainly due to his poor availability during in the 2018 FIFA World Cup

Overall Keeping

Nobody really cares about this but they will moan if I do not mention them.

According to the stats Wayne Eckton has the most WK dismissals with 329 with Tom Arnold 113 behind on 216. Tom Winter (109) and Club Legend Kev Longman (107) the only others to have more than 100 dismissals.

The Final Word

For in depth on each side, e.g. 1st team, the stats will be up soon for you all to look at. The 2025 stats will be added as soon as the season finishes. However keep an eye out on our socials for milestones by players throughout this season.
