Ollie Vincent scores career best in tight defeat to Chalke Valley!
Ollie Vincent scored a fabulous ton in the penultimate game of the season today at Chalke Valley as the Sunday side were narrowly beaten in the penultimate over.
Having been reduced to 9-4, Vincent (133) and Thomas Winter (26), steadied the ship sharing 131 for the fifth wicket in quick time to get the side back on track.
However, once both fell the innings faltered and the side finished up 180 all out.
After tea, the home side got off to a flier reaching 65 without loss before losing their first wicket.
A second partnership developed before some tight bowling from Dec Mason (2-9) and Ritesh Ramachandra (2-27) stemmed the flow well.
The home side ticked over nicely but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals they were always in control of the chase.
However, it took them until the last ball of the penultimate over to secure the winning runs, winning by two wickets.
An interesting game of cricket but standout innings from Vincent, as he took his tally for the year to just shy of 1500 runs.
One more game to come next Sunday at Harnham before the season comes towards a close.
