Third team record remarkable win against Damerham after brilliant James Mason ton!
The thirds made it two heavy wins in as many weeks thanks to a stunning maiden century from James Mason.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, the threes got off to a sticky start at Nomansland, slipping to 34-4 with only Ed Riley (33) making a recognisable contribution in the top order.
However, once he fell the writing looked on the wall for the side and they shortly after slipped to 71-7 inside 16 overs.
Despite this, Mason (116*) and Alfie Moore (22) put on a brilliant partnership of 92 for the eighth wicket in 14 overs to help the side recover brilliantly.
The number nine helped guide Mason through to his first-ever ton and the first hundred scored by a third-team player in four years which brought a massive ovation from the boundary.
Moore fell with still ten overs remaining with the score on 163 which brought the brilliant Nathaniel Owen (8*) to the crease.
The pair batted brilliantly together in the final spell of the innings, sharing an unbroken stand of 78 for the final wicket to propel the team to a remarkable score of 241-9 at the end of the innings.
Damerham were crestfallen after the innings and couldn’t quite believe what had happened in the final 24 overs of the innings.
However, after tea Moore (3-11) and Owen (0-26) opened up keeping things very tight reducing the visitors to 29-3 off ten overs.
Damerham fought back well after this initial spell but two quick wickets from Cameron Ridley (2-34) and one from Ben Lindsay (1-36), courtesy of a stunning catch from Ridley, brought the side right back in control.
At this point, the away side had reached 93-6 and looked well short. Their opener continued to bat with freedom and went through to score a half-century to take his side over the 100 mark.
Shortly after, Tom Mason (2-14) introduced himself into the attack and picked up two quick wickets to dismiss the away side for just 134 and complete a comprehensive victory by 108 runs at Nomansland.
An incredible win given where the sides were at one point in the day. That now makes it five wins for the season for the side, real progress has been made from last year and things are looking on the up for the team.
