LEAGUE SEASON OVER

Another league season has finished and it’s been pretty good. Both the firsts and seconds finished well up their tables with the thirds safely in mid-table in theirs. A big thanks to all three captains for all their hard work getting the teams out every week and also thanks to the scorers and umpires for all their hard work. It has been a positive season with several really good younger players coming through which bodes well for the future.

U13s

The U13s finished their season with a day out at the Rose Bowl. They finished a successful year winning 5 games. You can find more details on the U13 team page. Well played!

3RDS LOSE

A depleted thirds were up against it with a late withdrawal, and things got worse when Dan Eckton was injured when batting. The bright spot was an excellent innings from Harry Burnham with a club best of 63. Only Tom Mason (10) and Ram (13 not out) reached double figures with Harry, as the threes were all out for 142. Redlynch threes cruised to victory as the nine men tried hard to stop the flow.

B-TEAM FINISH SEASON WITH WIN

The B team won their final game at Mottisfont. They racked up 154-2, with major contributions from Laurence Harding (42), Sam Larbelastier (48) and a whirlwind unbeaten 54 from Sam Dempster.

The hosts reply never really got started, with Tom Mason (3-17) and Ash Jolly (2-7) the main reason. Two great bits of out cricket from Terry Harrison and Jonty Loveless resulted in run-outs as Mottisfont was restricted to 81-8.

1STS BEAT REDLYNCH

Redlynch were put into bat and struggled from the off losing wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 121. All the bowlers bowled well and picked up at least one wicket. In Reply Andy Hart went past 20,000 runs for the club and finished on 58 not out supported by Zane D’Monte (32*) winning by 7 wickets.

3RDs LOSE

The three’s came up against a strong Ampfield two’s and came a distant second. Jack Booth and Paul Noble each picked up two wickets, but the hosts piled up 228-7 at tea. The three’s reply was not very impressive with 7 of the top 8 failing to reach double figures. Opener Jack Booth was 6th out for a fine 36, and it was only a ninth wicket stand of 55 between Ram Ramachandra (30) and Tony Jolliffe (16) that led to respectability at 138 all out.

Bs WIN RUNFEST

There were 335 runs scored on the green tonight for 3 wickets including 2 centuries! Ampfield started slowly against the B’s, scoring only 4 from the first three overs. Opener Nik Patel then got going and was out in the final over for 103, as the visitors racked up `167-3 from their 18 overs. Dec Mason picked up 2-34 and Ben Arnold only conceded 12 from his 4 overs. Laurence Harding was a man on a mission in the reply with Julian Drake taking on a watching brief. Harding raced to a blistering unbeaten 112, and Drake finished on a sedate 50 not out as the B’s flew home in 13.4 overs. In the mayhem, Drake was mistakenly applauded for his half-century when on only 40, but luckily for the flustered only scorer, he did manage to reach his 50 before the close!

RECORD 10th WICKET PARTNERSHIP

Jonty Loveless & Gary Loveless put on 105 for the 10th wicket for the club Xl this afternoon which is an all-time club record partnership for the 10th wicket.

3s WIN AGAIN

The 3’s picked up a good win against Romsey 5’s at Nomansland. They bowled and caught well as wickets fell regularly. Paul Noble led the way with 4-21, backed up by two wickets apiece from Jack Booth and Dan Eckton, as Romsey were bowled out for 129. Jack (21) and Dan (40) gave the 3’s a great start in their reply with a stand of 63, but a small flurry of wickets caused a ripple of concern. Andy Hodder with a brisk 25 turned the game again, and Ian Loveless and Kieran Noble with 10 apiece saw the 3’s home for a 5-wicket win.

1ST TEAM DOMINATE AT HOME

The 1sts were asked to bat first and got off to another flyer with Andy Hart scoring freely on his way to 148. Wickets fell the other end before Josephine Coombs came to the crease and put on a 5th wicket 1st team record partnership with Andy of 149 before falling 4 short of his century. The team ended on 355. In reply, the visitors were bowled out for 166 with Dave Streather taking 5 wickets and Ben Arnold taking 3 wickets and only going for 11 runs off his 8 overs. Zane D’Monte became just the 10th player to score 2000 runs for the first team during the match. The second team won comfortably at Christchurch with Sam Dempster scoring a 100.

THIRD TEAM WINNING STREAK ENDS

The three’s good run came off the rails against Travellers with a big bump! Dropped catches did not help the cause against a strong batting side who racked up 250-4, with Paul Noble picking up a couple of wickets. Youngsters Jack and Dan got the reply off to a good start aided by a cluster of wide deliveries, but from 37-0, the threes were all out for 123, with only Ash Jolly (35) making a significant contribution.

Bs WIN THRILLER

The B’s had another high chase to make on Tuesday against unbeaten Redlynch A. The visitors started steadily but looked as if they would be below par until they scored 51 from the last 3 overs to finish on an imposing 171-4. Terry Harrison with 2 wickets, and one each for Tom Mason and Sam Dempster for the B’s, who did themselves no favours in conceding 39 extras. Julian Drake and Laurence Harding got the home side off to a great start, rattling along at 10 an over before Drake fell for a sparkling 49 with the score on 94. This sparked a mini collapse of 4 quick wickets, but Harding found an ally in Dec Mason with a breezy 16. Harding then went for 55, but Ben Arnold rolled back the years with an excellent 23 before Ash Jolly and Gary Loveless saw the B’s over the line with 4 balls to spare. The A-Team lost to Trojans.

ALL THREE TEAMS WIN

The 1sts won away at Totton batting first they got off to a flier before the low bounce restricted them to 225 with Andy Hart (59) and Simon Booth (44) putting on a 73-run partnership with everyone else chipping in. In reply, Totton kept losing wickets with the pick of the bowlers being Big Ben turning it around every corner and picking up 2-16 off his 10. Another great win. The seconds also won at home with George Gray 3 runs short of his first league 100 being the star.

THREES WIN THRILLER

The Three’s won a thriller at Shrewton. Batting first they lost two early wickets, but Jack Booth (55 his maiden fifty in men’s cricket) and Harry Burnham (32) shared a stand of 78. A mini collapse ensued but a hard-hitting 29 from Ian Loveless shored things up until a further collapse saw the three’s all out for 172. Shrewton started in a rush and breezed to 111-3 in the 18th over and seemed in complete control. Phil ‘the magician’ Curl had trouble with his wand early on, but in tandem with firstly Jack Booth, and then with Dan Eckton, wickets started to tumble. The home side becalmed as they took ten overs to get through the 150’s, and the pressure grew as wickets fell and the overs passed by. With nine wickets down and nine runs needed, a risky single was attempted and Curl’s direct underarm throw did the rest. Three wickets apiece for Curl and Eckton, one each for Booth and Paul Noble and two run-outs did the trick.

B-TEAM WIN AGAIN

Runs flowed again on the bowler’s graveyard at Nomansland. Redlynch B scored freely and racked up 147-2, but the B’s opening pair of Laurence Harding and Julian Drake put on 113 in just ten-and-a-bit overs to set up the win. Drake was caught in the deep for 44, but Harding (80 not out) and Sam Larbastier (20 not out) finished the job in 13.1 overs.

ALL 3 TEAMS WIN

Ginge took his first ever first team 5-fer with one of his best-ever bowling displays smashing through Fair Oak taking 7-25. Mark Angel supported him at the other end finding a nice rhythm as the team bowled out the oppo for just 59. In reply, the team looked like they may have a wobble but Sam Le B looked solid steering the team home with Josephine hitting the winning runs. The seconds had a great win – Breamore scoring 177 with wickets for Bailey and Jonty. The 2nds looked like they may be in trouble but Sam Dempster set the scene nicely for Terry Harrison to start launching the ball to all parts for the win. The thirds won their friendly at Amport, Jack Booth with a career-best 40, and a maiden club 50 for Chris Hewlins set up the three’s 204-5, and Dan Eckton with 4-35 was the bowling pick as Ampfield were all out for 106.

B-TEAM THROUGH IN PLATE

The B’s swept into the plate semis with an emphatic 9-wicket win at Trojans. On a rainy night, the match started late and Trojans elected to bat. Five of their top six batters reached double figures, but the B’s picked up wickets regularly. Once again Tom Mason took top billing with 2-8 from 3 overs. Trojans finished on 104-7 from their 18 overs. In their reply, with rain threatening, the B’s knew they had to stay at least at six-an-over in case the game was abandoned. Laurence Harding (10) exited with a score of 26, but Julian Drake and Sam Larbastier kept the board moving with some brilliant running. The pair breezed along at well above the rate, assisted by two huge maximums from Larbastier, and the win was completed with 16 balls to spare, Drake 39 not out and Larbastier unbeaten on 35.

1STS WIN

The 1sts batted first and Dave Streather once again came out of the blocks with a quick 47 before Simon Booth smashed a quick 50. Once again Andy Hart was at the other end chewing up the dots on his way to another slow 50 before Brenda Streather hit a quickfire 50 to take the team score to 301. In reply, the opposition was cruising after 10 overs but then the experience of Ben Arnold (5-31) and Delicate Dave (3-22), with a combined age of 100, bowled them out for 131.

CURL BAMBOOZLES AS 3RDS GET FIRST WIN

The 3s picked up their first win of the season at M&T on Saturday. The hosts crashed from 33-0 to 67 all out as Phil ‘the magician’ Curl picked up 5-8 in 7 overs. He was backed up by Tom Mason (2-1), Jack Booth (1-16) and Kev Gray (1-13). The younger members of the team were entrusted in knocking off the modest target and did not disappoint, led by Dan Eckton (28 not out), Tom Mason (13) and Jack Booth (10 not out) as the 3’s won by 7 wickets.

Bs LOSE FIRST GAME

The B’s were the victims of a South African blitz as they lost their unbeaten record. Kieran Geyle smacked a superb 101 not out as T&E racked up 196-3 in their 18 overs. The B’s slipped to 9-2 in reply but Sam Dempster (81) and Laurence Harding (43 not out) put on a stand of 122 in their creditable reply of 149-5. The A-Team had a comfortable win at home to Paultons.

1sts WIN

The firsts won away at Basingstoke. Batting first David Streather started smashing it scoring 40 before once again going LBW. Simon Booth then made the wicket look easy launching massive sixes on his way to 40. Watching the fireworks from the other end was Andy Hart who blocked and left nearly everything on his way to a coma-inducing 70 before Joe Coombs and Michael Kingston put on quick runs at the end to leave the team on 277. In reply, Ginge got some quick wickets supported by Dave and Andy bowling Basingstoke out for 211.

3rd TEAM LOSE CLOSE ONE

The ten-man thirds put up a great show against a strong Andover 4ths. ‘Uncle’ Phil Curl (52 not out) scored his first half-century since the 1980s as he anchored them to a useful 162-6 at tea. Dan Eckton, James Mason and Ian Loveless also chipped in with useful contributions. Andover appeared to be cruising to an easy win at 107-1, but 2 wickets apiece for Jack Booth, Angus McMahon and James Mason made things interesting until Andover eventually won by 3 wickets.

B-TEAM WIN AGAIN

The B team made it three wins from three with a comprehensive win at Langley Manor. The star turn was Tom Mason with career-best figures of 4-20, backed up by 2-16 from Terry Harrison, as Langley was restricted to 74-7 from 18 overs. The B’s slipped to 32-2, but Laurence Harding (29 not) and Sam Larbastier (23 not) rushed them home in 11.1 overs.

1STS WIN AT BOURNEMOUTH

Firsts win at Bournemouth! Bournemouth batted first and with some excellent bowling and fielding they were restricted to 179 with Michael Kingston ripping through the top order and Delicate David Streather cleaning up the tail with 4 wickets. In reply, Joe Coombs scored a steady 37 supported by Andy Hart Brendan Streather, Simon & Zane who all chipped in with 20s before Wayne Eckton smashed the winning runs with 3 balls to spare. Great team effort.

B TEAM WON AGAIN

The B team saw Whiteparish rack up 198-2 on the green, and then knocked them off in 15.1 overs! Laurence Harding with 75 and Julian Drake with 86 did the damage. Remarkable chase. The A-Team were beaten by Cadnam.

CLUB INTO 2ND ROUND OF VKO

Bramshaw won in the first round of the VKO against Sway in a reversal of the 1st team game on Saturday. Zane scored a mighty hundred and Terry Harrison smashed a quickfire 80 as the team scored 318. Ginge​ took five wickets in Sway’s reply as they fell just 30 runs short. The next round is at Liphook this Sunday.

B TEAM WIN CRACKER

The B team won a cracking game at M&T. The home side batted well and ran up a useful 15 over score of 118-1, with both openers notching half-centuries. The B’s opening pair of Laurence Harding and Julian Drake kept up the required rate until Harding was out for a hard-hit 32. Sam Larbastier then joined Drake to take the B’s to victory with four balls to spare, Drake finishing unbeaten with a classy 48, and Larbastier, after a cautious start, ending with 32 not out, finishing the match in style with a huge six into the trees. The A team also won comfortably at home to Trojans.

LANDFILL COMMUNITY FUND GRANT

Bramshaw Cricket Club which serves the Communities of Bramshaw, Nomansland and Landford is very grateful for the grant of £2,520 from The Cleansing Service Group Ltd. This money has been made available through the Landfill Community Fund (LCF) which is administered for the Cleansing Service Group by Community First, the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire. This grant is highly appropriate as it has been used to renovate a septic tank soakaway system at Bramshaw Cricket Club which will greatly improve the olfactory experience of spectators and cricketers of the said club. The families of the cricketers will in particular be indebted to The Cleansing Service Group Ltd – especially on hot summer days in the coming season – for the purity of the air as they watch the game and their children play.

HCL AVERAGES

Andy Hart was 4th highest run scorer in CD2. Gary Loveless was 3rd highest run scorer in RD2W with Lawrence Reeve 13th & John Roberts. Ben Arnold was 5th Highest wicket taker in RD2W with Bailey Loveless 10th. Vince McMahon was 15th highest run scorer in RD3W. Well played!

BOTH BORDER LEAGUE TEAMS PROMOTED

The A-Team have been promoted to the premier division and the B-Team have been promoted to Div 1 of the Border League.

1STS STAY UP – 2NDS GAIN PROMOTION

The 1sts were hammered by Hythe & Dibden who scored 352 in their 45 overs. Bailey Loveless was once again the pick of the bowlers picking up 2 wickets with Jack Booth picking up his first ever first team wicket. In reply, George Gray top scored with 29 supported by Stu Stickland and Dan Eckton who scored a classy looking 11. The 2nds made it into 8th place in their league to gain promotion. Well played everyone!

STREATHER SMASHES 37 BALL 93 AS 1STS DOMINATE

Bramshaw won the toss and asked Portchester to bat on a damp Bramshaw wicket. Mark Angel bowled superbly to go for just 10 off his 5 overs supported well by Ginge and Ben Arnold who built an enormous amount of pressure. Bailey Loveless once again bowled superbly to take 2 wickets, Zane and Tarty also picked up two wickets and there were 3 ridiculous run-outs to leave the 1sts needing 131 to win. Dave Streather boomed the ball all over the park to score 93 off just 37 balls to win by 10 wickets after just 11.4 overs!

YOUNG BOWLERS STAR

Bailey Loveless was the star bowler for the first team taking 2-32 off his 10 overs, bowling particularly well to the opposition’s overseas player. The firsts needed 211 to win, Josephine Coombs batted well for 66 but the team fell just 2 runs short. Jack Booth was entrusted with the last over for the 2nds as the opposition needed 15 to win but Jack held his nerve and took a wicket to see the seconds home.

DAN ECKTON SPINS IT TO WIN IT FOR THE 3RDS

The future first-team bowlers Dan Eckton and Jack Booth bowled superbly to restrict Farley to 136. Dan took his first 5 wicket haul for Bramshaw taking 5-28 from 9 overs supported by Jack who took 2-41. In reply the three’s stumbled to 60-6 before old stagers Wayne Eckton (34 not) and Simon Booth (43 not) shared a great stand to win with four-and-a-bit overs to spare.

GINGE STAYS CALM – FIRSTS WIN

The first team were chasing 231 at Bedhampton with Mangel being the pick of the bowlers. After a great start with Dave Streather, Zane D’Monte & Simon Booth all batting beautifully and were cruising at 157-2. A flurry of wickets then fell which left the team needing 11 off the last over with number 9 Ginge and number 11 Bailey ‘The Bull’ Loveless at the crease. After calmly dealing with 3 dot balls just to amp up the tension ginge spawns a four over the keeper’s head before dispatching a mighty 6 and Calmy placing a single to win off the last ball of the match for a thrilling win.

SAM DEMPSTER SCORES CENTURY – SECONDS WIN

Ben Arnold showed that his no-cheese diet isn’t hampering his bowling by taking 5-5 in the seconds to help bowl the opposition out for 193. In reply the seconds were in trouble losing 2 quick wickets before Sam Dempster came in and smashed the bowlers for 107* aided by Captain Gary. A brilliant win!

BAILEY TAKES HIS FIRST WICKET IN 1st TEAM LOSS

The first team lost a close match to Old Basing. Batting first and scoring a below-par score of 189 with Andy Walker’s scintillating 57 by far the highlight of the innings. In reply, Old Basing were cruising along at 100-0 before Bailey came on with Simon Booth to bowl a combined 9 overs 3-21 to bring us back into the game. A sublime direct hit run out from George Gray gave Old Basing a wobble before their number 7 saw them home with 3 wickets to spare.

BOTH BORDER LEAGUE TEAMS WIN

The BL B Team went top of Div 2 with a thrilling win against T&E. Jonty Loveless took 3-16 as the B’s restricted T&E to 129-4. In reply Laurence Harding (23), Rich White (39) and Sam Larbastier (35) took the team to 104-1. After a collapse Sam Wallace needed a 6 off the last ball to win which he duly delivered for another memorable win. The A-Team cruised to an easy win against Calmore B at home with Josephine Coombs scoring an undefeated 50.

700 MATCH CLUB

Mark Angel, Phil Curl & George Gray all played their 700th match for the club in recent weeks which is a phenomenal achievement by all 3. Other Milestones reached recently include Andy Hart scoring his 19,000th run, Simon Booth taking his 400th Wicket and James Mason & Bailey Loveless both taking their 100th wicket for the club.

BORDER LEAGUE B TEAM PLATE SEMI

The Border League B Team are playing their plate semi-final against Romsey A at Nomansland next Thursday (21st July) at 6.15 pm start – come along and support.

BORDER LEAGUE B-TEAM WIN AGAIN

Border League B team have an easy 9 wicket win at home to Whiteparish. Bowling first Sam Dempster took 2-25 as Whiteparish ended 134-6. In Reply Rich White anchored the innings with a solid 43 not out whilst Sam Larbastier smashed 67 not out at the other end.

ALL THREE TEAMS LOSE

The firsts lost to Longparish who chased down 191 with relative ease. The seconds lost a thriller at Bramshaw and the thirds lost at Ellingham.

DEC MASON HITS 6 TO WIN

B Team beat Langley in a Thriller. Chasing 117 the B team were rocked by a 3rd over hat trick leaving them on 17-4 which quickly became 46-6. Rich White scored a crucial 34 taking the score to 73 with Benjamin Arnold. When Rich was out the team needed an unlikely 36 from 2. Ben then turned back the clock taking 26 from the 17th over before losing his wicket on the 3rd ball of the last over leaving 7 to win with 9 wickets down. Only a single came from the next 2 balls leaving a 6 needed off the last ball. Declan Mason planted a majestic straight drive over the bowlers head for 6 to win a most remarkable match.

GARY SCORES 100

The highlights of a day where all three teams lost were Gary Loveless scoring 120 in the 2nds and Mike Kingston bowling quickly to take 4-22 in the firsts.

B-TEAM INTO PLATE SEMIS

The B’s eased into the plate Semi-final with a great win at Lyndhurst. Laurence Harding got them off to a flier with his sparkling 37, and there were several other double-figure contributions down the order as the visitors reached 127-8 at the break. The B’s put a stranglehold on the scoring rate with some excellent bowling and fielding and wickets tumbled. All the bowlers deserve credit but three wickets apiece for Mark Weaver and Terry Harrison was the highlight, as the B’s ran out winners by 33 runs.

ALL 3 TEAMS LOSE

Andy Hart scored 128 as the Firsts lost at home to Petersfield by 5 wickets. The seconds lost away to Redlynch with Gary Loveless scoring 70. Vince McMahon scored an unbeaten 91 and Jack Booth made his debut for the club, scoring 20, as the thirds lost to New Milton 4s at home.

B-TEAM WIN

The Tuesday B team raced to victory against Ampfield. Winning the toss Ampfield chose to bat and were soon in trouble. 23-3 swiftly became 63-7, before an eighth wicket stand of 43 took them to a below-par 106-7 at the break. Terry Harrison used 7 bowlers with Mark Weaver 2-13 and Lewis Oliver 2-21 the pick. The B’s openers Laurence Harding and Julian Drake raced along at 12-an-over and both managed to complete half-centuries before the game was won in just 8.2 overs. Sadly for Julian, it will be his final game of the season as he goes into hospital for shoulder surgery next week.

RAYMOND STICKLAND

Raymond Stickland passed away on the 29th May aged 94. Raymond has been a part of Bramshaw CC for many many years and will be sorely missed by everyone at the club. His funeral will be held at the Bournemouth Crematorium on Tuesday 14th June at 1 pm. Afterwards at the High Corner Inn, Linwood. All are welcome to attend.

THIRDS WIN

The Thirds gained an excellent win against Burley 2nds on Saturday. Losing the toss they were asked to bat and Stu Stickland held things together as they slumped to 29-3. In tandem with Vince McMahon, they added 99 before Stu was caught for a fine 67. Vince carried the fight to the visitors, eventually falling for a Super 61. Andy Hodder (25) and Dan Eckton with a stylish unbeaten 14 took the threes to a useful tea score of 236-7. Burley lost a wicket in the first over before Rapson and Martin added 79 in just 11 overs. the introduction of spin changed the game with Stu S and Dan Eckton weaving their magic. Stu took 3-22 in a ten-over spell, and Dan 2-39 in two spells. Skipper Ian Loveless with his first bowl since the last millennium took 2-13 at the death to leave the Threes winners by 17 runs. The threes ground fielding and catching was excellent with the younger members leading the way. The seconds lost a close game at Bramshaw with Loz Reeve being the star with a 100. The Firsts lost another close game at Basingstoke.

MURRAY AND COOMBS = LEGENDS

The first team won the toss and bowled first. Mangel and Ginge both bowled economically picking up a wicket each before Tarty (4-35) and Josephine Coombs (3-22) picked up the wickets to bowl Locks Heath out for 196. In reply, the firsts lost 5 quick wickets for only 71 runs and were in danger big time. Johnny “The Legend” Murray then strolled to the crease and took the bowling apart to score his highest ever score for the 1st team of 67 not out of just 58 balls. At the other end, Josephine Coombs batted the best he has ever batted for the firsts to score 74 not out to see the team home with 7 overs to spare. Joe and Johnnys’ partnership of 125 was the first-ever 100-run partnership for the 6th wicket in the first team. Nice job.

3rd TEAM LOSE AFTER COME BACK

Although the 3’s lost heavily at Wilton, the result hides the story of a remarkable batting fightback. Rocking at 44-7 with only ten men, the tail rallied superbly. Vince McMahon, in tandem with his 13-year-old son JJ, added 40 for the 8th wicket, and then McMahon senior (27 not out) together with usual umpire Tony Jolliffe (32 not out) added an unlikely unbroken 47 for the ninth wicket. This took the visitors to a respectable 132-8 at tea. The 3s were sadly unable to defend this as Wilton raced to a nine-wicket win.

KINGER BATS?? A-TEAM WIN

Simon King got his first chance of the season to bat and a lesser man would have been affected by some pretty serious pad rash from earlier games but fortunately, Kinger using his experience, liberally applied some powerful steroid cream before the game which not only cleared up the rash but gave him the added strength he needed to hit a meaty six on his way to 19 not out. Anyway, the A-Team won fairly comfortably with Matt Thomas taking 4-14 to seal the win and take the team through to the next round of the cup.

B-TEAM OUT OF CUP

The B’s bowed out of the Border Cup by 43 runs against a powerful Trojans outfit. The B’s were ahead of the rate for a time while Terry Harrison (30) and Rich White (27) were together, but the introduction late in the innings of the first team quickie Wright ripped through the B’s tail to leave them well short

JOHNNY MURRAY SCORES A RUN – 1STS WIN

Fielding first Bramshaw started incredibly well with Mark Angel (2-32) and Ginge (1-18) bowling brilliantly to restrict Fair Oak to only 17 off the first 12 overs. Simon Booth (1-27) then continued the pressure taking 1-9 off his first 5 overs before being taken off for the returning Ben Arnold who whirled his magic picking up 3 wickets in his 10 overs. Needing 177 to win the firsts kept the score ticking over nicely and although they lost a few early wickets Andy Hart and Joe Coombs put on a controlled partnership of 86 to get within touching distance of victory. Tarty then tried to launch one out of the ground for the win only to be bowled for 99 and Johnny Murray came in and hit the winning runs.

DEC MASON SCORES FIRST 50

Declan Mason scored his first-ever 50 a majestic 73 not out in the 3rd team loss at Hyde. Bailey Loveless took another 4 wickets as the second team also lost.

A-TEAM SMASH RECORD SCORE

The Border League A-Team scored Bramshaw’s highest-ever score in the Border League of 247-2. Joe Coombs smashed a quick-fire 79 supported by Andy Hart who ended up on 93. Tom Arnold also scored a 50. In reply, Romsey and OTs were always behind the rate and after 12 overs the game was called due to light. Bramshaw won on Run Rate. The B-team match was called off.

RICH BERESFORD

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you all that Rich Beresford has passed away. Rich was an all-rounder who played 46 matches over 7 seasons for Bramshaw with a highlight being a match-winning century for the third team and also included 4 5-fers. He will be greatly missed and all of Bramshaw’s thoughts are with his family at this time.

ZANE STARS IN THE FIRSTS LOSS

Zane carried on his fine form from the end of last year to start the season with a majestic 134 as the first team lost to Rowledge 2s. Chasing 275 no one could hang around with Zane long enough, so the team ended up just 36 runs short of victory. George Gray started the season like never before scoring his highest score since 2007 (84) for the seconds in an opening partnership of 172 with Gary Loveless (57). A dramatic collapse left the 2nds bowled out for 216 which proved too much for Beaulieu who were bowled out for 124 with James Mason & Lawrence Reeve picking up 2 wickets each before Bailey came on and ripped through the tale taking 4 wickets for 7 runs. The third team lost to Brockenhurst with Brian Hart coming out of retirement to hit a fifty.

BOTH BORDER LEAGUE TEAMS START THE SEASON WITH WINS

The A-Team travelled to Lyndhurst and bowling first restricted the opposition to 99 in 18 overs with Ginge taking 2-7 and Bailey Loveless 1-16. In reply the As had a mini collapse (Johnny Murray has taken an early grip on retaining the duck) before Tom Arnold and Zane steadied the ship to see the team home with 3 balls to spare. The B-Team beat a strong Langley team at Nomansland. Langley batted first scoring 121 with Mark Weaver and Terry Harrison both taking 2 wickets. In reply the Bs reached the target with ease with Terry Harrison top scoring (49) supported by Sam Barcia (29). Great start to the season.

LANDFORD ACADEMY

CLUB LEGENDS

We have created a page to show those players and volunteers in the clubs history who are legends of Bramshaw. We are hoping to add Nomansland’s legends soon. To see who is on the list please click here. To be eligible a person must have played at least 200 games for the club or have made a significant contribution to the club. STATS UPDATE

Some old score books have been found which means the stats are now nearly complete for 1984 to 2015 with just a few seasons of club Xl and BL missing. After the updates the leading run scorer is Tim Rogers with 19473 runs, the leading wicket taker is Mark Angel with 951 wickets. Other changes include Stuart Stickland now being the leading run scorer in Bramshaw colts history & Ian Mcgill now being the leading wicket taker for the 2nds.

Bramshaw would like to welcome Nomansland Cricket club to our family. At the AGM it was unanimously decided that Nomansland would become part of Bramshaw CC. So a big welcome to all the Nomansland players who we all look forward to meeting and playing with next season.
