Pylewell 2s v Bramshaw 3s, County 6 South West. Match…
Match Report – 2nds Well beaten by Alderholt
by Tom Mason
On another warm day, we won the toss and inevitably batted. John W and George J opened the batting and got us off to an excellent start. They both continued to bat carefully at the start before they both started playing some more attacking shots. Not long after George was out for 12 bringing Richard in to bat and he and John just kept the score ticking for a few overs. Soon after John reached another fifty this time falling for 57. This meant that the new batsman was Tom H dad and he and Rich batted for a few overs before the former was out bowled. I then Joined Richard at the wicket and came in and hit a cameo of 9 from four balls. After I got out Phil joined Rich at the wicket and he was just looking to stay in until the end of the innings as Rich continued to play his shots he was out in the 40s. This meant that big hitter Sam Bryder came in and he hit a quick 16. Next was Tom H who played a more cautious innings compared to anyone else and whilst this was useful it wasn’t really what was needed as the overs were running out. A few overs later he was out for 3. This meant Phil who started to play some great shots was joined by John Cooper who hit a four before the end of the innings and we finished on a below par 230-7 from our 42 overs.
After another great Bramshaw tea, John and Phil opened with the former keeping it tight and the latter going for a few runs. Only his 1st over Phil took himself off and brought Rich on who was bowling spin. They continued to be up with the rate and they never looked like losing a wicket until John picked one up. Tom W came on and bowled superbly and he even picked up a wicket which was caught and bowled. For a ten-over spell in the middle, we kept it fairly quiet only until Sam came on with them needing 35 from 8 overs and we had half a chance but that soon went as they weren’t looking to finish it in singles. In the end, they did it with about 5 overs to go and we had fallen to defeat for the second week running
Next week is away at Hyde so hopefully we can get a win there.
