Match Report – 3rds back to winning ways against IBM Hursley!!!!!

6 July 2013 – Bramshaw 3rd XI v IBM Hursley

by Tom Mason

Batting first on a scorching hot day George and Andy opened up against IBM who had lots of colts themselves. They saw off the first few overs both getting some well-timed hits. Soon after Andy was out bowled for 3. Richard was then in and he and George were batting superbly well looking as if there were no. troubles. They saw us through to an early drink after 14 overs as it was such a warm day. George and Richard continued to bat well before He got out and bowled for an excellent 39. This brought Clasby to the crease who got out the first ball meaning their bowler was on a hat-trick, luckily Taylor survived it despite edging one and was lucky to not be out caught but was soon out for a rare low score. This left us in an awkward position as we had lost 3 wickets in quick succession. Nigel then went in to join Richard and these two batted extremely well both getting runs these two kept on going edging our score past 100. Richard was then out for another high score. This brought in Charlie who hit some big hits before he was out meaning Phil &Nigel were in and they both batted well before Nigel got out after an excellent innings. This meant Phil and Kev L were looking to get some more batting points and more of a competitive total. It was Phil who was doing most of the big hits but Kev was running singles at every opportunity. In the last over Phil got out to an excellent for a quick cameo. This meant T. Wall was in and after hitting a great four it looked as if it we would end up with 190 roughly. He was out on the penultimate ball of the innings. I had the last ball to face and I hit it to mid-on and got a single leading us to 184-9 from our 42 overs.

After another great tea Taylor and Charlie opened the bowling keeping it tight and Charlie managed to pick up a wicket reducing them to 6-1. They both continued to bowl well and it was Charlie who got the next wicket reducing them to 13-2. Taylor then got a wicket meaning they were 20-3. They were in complete disarray when Charlie picked up his third. Charlie finished up with impressive figures of (3-5). Then Phil and T Wall came on to bowl and they were trying to build on the impressive start Phil did more damage than Tom picking up a wicket. Tom was then off and I was on and there was a wicket through a run out from C.plumbley and the bails were whipped off by G. Jones. We should never lose it from here and we didn’t as their wickets continued to tumble as I picked up 3 and Phil 2. Victory was sealed when Richard got a catch from my bowling on the boundary meaning they were all out for 99 one short of a batting point.

A great result especially after last week’s disappointment, next week is a massive match against Langley Manor away.
