Sunday team lose out to rioteers in timed match

30 June 2013 Club XI v Rioteers

by Tom Mason

With a timed match agreed we took to the field Joe and Cooper opened up. Joe quickly removed their opener leaving them 6-1. After that, they batted superbly well and they were well set for a humungous score. They continued to hit all over the place. Then Tarty and Whitcher came on looking to brake the partnership but were unable to do so. Then on came Tom Mason and Ritesh Ramachandra who bowled 9 overs and went for about seventy but did manage to pick up a wicket as did Tom the centurion out bowled for 111. After the drinks break Kaush and Ritesh bowled with limited luck and they declared on over 300. This was a great effort on such a boiling day.

After a great tea James and his friend opened up not lasting that long before both left us in trouble. Then in were Joe and Kaush who both hit some great shots but were both out in quick succession. This meant that James’s other friend was in with tarty and everyone knew that if tarty got out for a low score then they were an extremely good team. These two put on quite a few runs aided by some extras to. Then the next wicket fell and R.ramachandra was in to join tarty and these two put on a fair amount of runs and looked pretty unshaved throughout before Tarty got out. This brought in wicket–keeper Declan who got out for a duck. This brought in Ritesh who also got a duck meaning I was in with R.ram we put on a few runs before R Ram was run out I wasn’t sure if there was a run there so I called know. I and Dave had the chance to bat out for 20 overs after half past six but especially with me at the crease, this wasn’t ever going to happen and I was soon out for 6. This left Dave stranded on 0* not out meaning that we had lost rather heavily.

Next week’s game is a rare away game against Beaulieu.
