Match Report – U17s Lose 100% record to New Milton

6 June 2013 – Bramshaw v New Milton u17

by Tom Mason

Fielding first we made a positive start with Ryan and James H both bowling well and Ryan managed to pick up an early wicket. Not long after they went for a crazy run and got run out at this point it was 10-2. They both continued to bowl well until the end of their spells. Skip and Taylor bowled next in good areas but with limited luck. I must also add that j Arnold picked up an excellent stumping along the way to get out one of their dangermen. These two bowled their spells for not many runs but didn’t seem to get any luck with what they were doing. On came Kaush for two overs restricting the runs in the first over but in the second it was the penultimate over so they were going to be playing attacking whoever was bowling. After a very good last over from Ryan which included 3 wickets, they ended up on 115.

James H and Matt C opened up but unfortunately, Matt was out fairly quickly. James and Julian both lasted for quite a while and Julian was out first bowled. This brought in Josh who hit a four and then got out. With James at the other end batting well Taylor came in and after his excellent batting for the 3rds in recent weeks we suddenly realised that we had quite a good chance. Taylor hit two sixes before getting out bowled. This brought in George who got a duck and we were looking in deep trouble until Matt R lifted some of the worries with some very elegant shots. He and James continued to bat well before James got out for 17. This meant Ryan was in and he hit some good shots along his way and victory was still in sight. Not long after Matt got out meaning it was all down to skip and he hit some good shots along the way too. Ryan then got out for 17. This meant Kaush was in and there was still a possibility of a win. After a few quiet overs, James looked for a tight single and Kaush didn’t quite make it meaning that he went off on a mad one. This meant I was with about 1o balls to go and still about 20 to win and James hit some good shots meaning there still needed to be some big hits in the last over he found one but going for a six the next ball was caught out and we had lost by 8 runs.

This was a good performance because they’re more than likely to win the league.
