Match Report – 3rds pick up 2nd win of the season!
10th June 2013 – Bramshaw 3rd XI v M&T
by Tom Mason
Batting first Julian and Andy opened up against both starting well with few alarms. They both saw off the newish ball before Andy got out for 8. Thus brought in Matt C, who played very nicely after hitting a four and some more good shots before getting out. This left us at 43-2 and Rich C came in and played well supporting Julian very nicely neither looked in any sort of trouble of getting and getting out and continued to bat well and Julian was soon at his 50 and rich into the thirty’s. This brought them up to drinks without these to unscathed. After drinks, these continued to bat on with more intentions now and fours were being hit all over the place before Richard got out for a brilliant 41. This brought in Taylor to join Julian and these two continued to play some lovely shots Taylor was soon into double figures and Julian into the 70’s. We were approaching 150 and these two continued to bat elegantly. Julian then moved into the eighties and was soon out for 89. We were soon followed by Taylor who got out for thirty-odd. This brought in Phil and Charlie who tried to amass as many runs as they could in the last few overs. They continued and soon passed two hundred and Phil was then out this brought Kev L and he and Charlie saw us to the end on 230-6 of 42 overs.
After tea Taylor and Julian opened up keeping it tight and despite no breakthrough in the first few overs they were still below the required rate. After a few overs they had reached 23-0 but from then on it was Bramshaw all the way Taylor picked up four quick wickets with some excellent catches along the way. Julian also managed to pick one up and at one point they were 23-0 his soon changed to 30-5. Then on came Charlie and Phil to try to limit the runs and pick up some more wickets so that they would have to go for Imore. Not long into his spell, Charlie picked up a wicket after a smart catch from Rich. He soon after picked up another one and they were 7 down with Phil just making sure that runs weren’t being heavily leaked at the other end. Then on came Tom M and Kaush to try and finish the innings and this is what we did in a few overs with me and Kaush picking up three wickets between us.
A good performance with both bat and ball.
There isn’t a game next week so enjoy a week off.
