Match Report – U17s Ten edge past Alderholt

23 May 2013 – Bramshaw v Alderholt u17

by Tom Mason

After having a week off the u17’s batted first after losing the toss. Josh and James Holgate opened up starting well getting us off to a flying start with 34 amassed in just four overs before Josh got out bowled for 10. James was joined by Julian and they both continued to build a platform for the latter batsmen to build they were both batting well before James H got out for 17. George then came to the crease and these two kept the momentum going firing boundaries all over the place. Then with a few sixes hit as well the score advanced up to 100 both batsmen were well set before George got out for 25 and this brought in Kaush who stayed before Juilen got out for an excellent 32. This brought in Skipper J.mason who hit a brisk 5* off two. The score ended up on 130-4 in the 18 overs.

After the drinks and some music to get everyone raring to go out and win Taylor and James opened up the bowling both bowling through to complete their 4 overs each restricting the runs and picking up some wickets. Soon after there was some tidy bowling from Kaush, Josh and James H who all picked up some key wickets and there were some key catches taken by Kasuh, Rich C, and Jonty along the way as well. Despite them having this one batsman who seemed to feel that whatever was put at him he would stay strong only for him to retire on 40 and then this slowed down their momentum. Going into the final over they were 112-8 and with the first ball there was a run out from George j which brought in their retired batsmen who tried some big heaves which didn’t come off and he was eventually out and the match was ours.

This was a very good effort with only 10 players. It’s going to be a weird season this year as a number of teams have dropped out so there is no game next week.
