Match Report – 3rds Fall to narrow defeat against Verwood!

25th May 2013 – Bramshaw 3rd XI v Verwood

by Tom Mason

After losing the toss Bramshaw batted first and got off to a handy start with Andy and George seeing off the first few overs and looking to lay the foundations for the rest and they continued to do so until George edged one to the slips. This brought in M.Clasby who lasted two balls before he was out. This brought in R. Cooper at 14-2 and these two tried to add some runs and steady everything up and did so for quite a while before Rich got bowled for 7. This brought in Taylor who added some useful runs with Andy before he got out and this brought in Ben who with Taylor added lots of runs to help us up near 150. After some more big hits, Ben was out for 24. This meant Mike was in and he continued how Ben left off with some big hits and he and Taylor were batting well and Taylor had passed 70 and this point and looking well set for an excellent score. Soon after he got out for an excellent 82. This allowed Kaush to come in and he was unlucky to be out for a duck. With Mike batting well at the other end Charlie came in to add as many runs as possible and added a few runs before he was out bowled. This brought me to the crease just looking to see the overs out with Mike before he got out. This meant Chris P joined me and we were just trying to get as many as possible in the last few overs and we added a few before the end meaning we ended with 189-9.

After a really good tea Richard and Charlie opened up the bowling keeping them well below the run rate. Soon after the first wicket fell shortly followed by a second and then there was some very good bowling by Kaush, who seems to be improving by the week, picking up a wicket and it was becoming close when some more good bowling for Ben and Taylor who each picked up wickets at vital times. Also there was a good run out by Charlie/George. Towards the end it looked as if we were about 10-15 runs short and this proved evident as they got home with just over an over to go. A great effort after last week’s result.

Let’s try and get our first win next week.
