Bramshaw Junior Cricket Report 2012
This season was a bit hit or miss and this was all because of the weather, this led to training sessions being cancelled and players not knowing where they had to be and when they had to be there. The under-11’s had a satisfactory season winning 2/3 of their matches. The under-13’s had a pretty much impossible season, however they did play 5 matches winning three of them in the process. It was however an astonishing season for the under-15s who played seven matches winning 5 of them, coming close to the title and without some dubious decisions we would have got there. Now the under-17’s this was a very difficult season they only played four matches and they were away for all of them and were players down every week having to cope with only 8 players for the last game at Bashley.
Under 11s
It was a weird season for the under-11s because they only took to the field three times throughout the whole season and they won 2 of the matches. Let’s hope the weather is a lot better next summer for everyone. Hopefully in the next few weeks, they can play some indoor matches to get used to playing together as a team and make next season a more memorable one.
Under 13s
It was also a tough season for the under-13s who again played limited games due to the rain. Their record was played 5 won 3 lost two. They barely had any training sessions so it was made difficult for players to know when their matches were. The under-13s have got a strong-looking team for next year so hopefully they can be pushing for some trophies. They have also got some indoor matches coming up so this should keep them occupied during the winter to try and stay in some decent form for next year.
Under 15s
This was a great season for the under 15s, largely helped by the fact that most weeks I was the only person on the lower age of the under 15s. Barring some dubious decisions we could have had a trophy to show out of this. The only team we lost to was Ringwood in both the league and the cup. I’m not yet sure if there will be an under 15’s next year so let’s try to make sure that we put out an under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17’s team next year so we can build for the future men’s teams. Once again I would like to congratulate the under-15s on a terrific season and one of the best I can remember a Colts team having.
Under 17’s
Again this was a difficult season for the under 17s with them only playing 4 matches and they were all played away from Bramshaw. Their one win came against Fawley in which they were limited to players but still picked up a victory. In their last game against Bashley, they could only field 8 players but still played on and did the club proud. Hopefully, the under-17s can keep going next year and this will, hopefully, help to make some of those players who don’t play in men’s cricket step up and play in the best cricket there is.
Finally, I would like to thank anyone who was involved with playing, managing, scoring and umpiring to make sure that the Colts could play matches when that horrible weather went away. Let’s hope we can have a better season next year to build for the future.
