Match Report – Penton v Bramshaw 3rds
Penton v 3rd Xl 28 July 2012

LOZZA SCORES FIRST TON AS THIRDS WIN
We were put in at picturesque Penton yesterday and were soon in trouble. When debutant Harry went we were 13-3. Andy Hodder swished a quick 14 but we were 4 down when he departed for less than 50. Phil, Kev, Tom W and myself all went cheaply to leave us 85-8 BUT at the other end looking on whilst the carnage ensued was Lawrence Reeve. He nursed the score above 100 with his Dad before a fatal hesitation and a very furry outfield caused the demise of Reeve Snr. LR had opened and batted very maturely and made his Ton with a 6 in the 41st over. He carried his bat for 102 as we made 145.
Tight bowling in tandem was needed and Sam and Phil provided just that. Penton were 18-3 off 8ovs. The ball of the day came from Sam (1-18 off 7) to remove their no5 – pitching just outside off and coming through the gate and removing the off bail.
At drinks, they were 58-3 but 2 quick wickets reduced them to 61-5. Their opener cajoled them along to 115-6 off 34 but succumbed to a great C&B from the returning Phil for 73. From thereonin wickets came easily with Phil running riot (8-4-6-11)!!
Penton finished 120ao and our 25 run win earned us 21pts. Special mention obviously goes to Lawrence for his Jon Wallesque knock along with taking the final wicket but we played and supported each other very well in the field and won together as a team. An enjoyable victory.
