Match Report – Under 13s win on last ball to continue enjoyable season despite the rain!
5th July 2012 – Redlynch & Hale v Bramshaw U13s
by Tom Mason
Jonty won the toss and elected to bowl first with Richard and Ben keeping it tight for a while. Until Jonty came on and picked up some valuable wickets while at the other end there was some tight bowling from Bailey, Ritesh, Declan and Harvey all picking up wickets at valuable times to restrict the scoring. Jonty kept it tight towards the end and they ended up on a competitive 77-7 off their 18 overs.
It was then Jonty and Declan opened up and Jonty showed a more attacking mindset scoring some quick runs in the early overs with Declan playing more of an anchor inning to stabilise. Dec and Jonty brought up the 50 partnership with Jonty getting out with the score on 56-1 with 7 overs remaining. He was joined at the wicket by Harry Bruce who didn’t last long and got out for two and then Richard was in hitting some good shots all around the park scoring a quick 28 to leave us needing 9 off 2 overs. Declan then got out leaving the job to be finished by Ben C and Cameron. Needing 4 off the last over the game was in the balance before a couple of dot balls and then a dubious wide meant 3 was needed of 2. Then we got a single and so 2 was needed off one and Ben hit it to mid-on and they scampered back for 2 and so victory was ours.
We have now won 2 out of our 4 matches. Let’s hope our positive season continues next week back at Bramshaw against Winterslow!!
