Match Report – U15s in another close match but come out on top against Cadnam

10th June 2012 – Bramshaw U15s v Cadnam

by Tom Mason

When I arrived I was unsure if play would start at all let alone on time. Once the two managers had gone out onto the square to have a look at the wicket they decided we would start on time if it was not raining.

After a short delay, we eventually got started and Bramshaw were to bowl first, with Jonty and Taylor as opening bowlers. We started well and then the best catch you will ever see at this age group came from George Jones who took a stunning one-handed diving catch, this reduced Cadnam to 12-2 off four overs.

After that, Cadnam lost wickets at steady intervals but kept the run rate going at a quick rate. With four overs left, Cadnam had 88 runs on the board and they were looking to post somewhere in the region of 120. They failed to score off the last ball because their batsmen took a big top edge and it went straight up into the air and under it was Charlie who took a very good catch and they ended up on 104.

Bramshaw then batted with Josh and George opening. They made an okay start before George got bowled and then it was big hitting Jamie in and he got out quickly and was shortly followed by Taylor.

Then Charlie came to the crease and scored some quick runs before he was the next to fall, Josh followed quickly after for 24. When Sam came to the wicket we were 60-5 and he and Alex Clark put on a good 6th wicket stand and edged Bramshaw closer before they both got out with 10 runs still required. Then Kaush and Richard were batting and once Kaush got caught by a very good catch at mid-on the victory was looking in jeopardy. Jonty came in still needing 5 to win and then a wide meant four was required of 8 deliveries then there were four byes and the match was ours!

Our 100% league record will face a big test when we play Ringwood away next Sunday as they narrowly defeated us a few weeks ago in the cup !!
