Match Report – Under 13s cup match ends in defeat

30th May 2012 – Calmore v Bramshaw U13s

Firstly a big thank you to Calmore CC for allowing the under thirteen’s to use their second pitch as ours was being used for training. Anyway back to the match and skipper Jonty won the toss and put a strong-looking Calmore Team into bat first. Bramshaw made a positive start with the ball with Declan, Cameron and Richard all starting well and picking up wickets. They restricted the opposition to 25-4 but then Calmore had some good batsmen come to the wicket with a few batsmen reaching 20-odd. Then skipper Jonty bowled spin because he was carrying a slight injury so that he didn’t risk it for more important matches in the future. In the end, the wickets started falling and some runs were picked up in the end they scored a very competitive 99.

Then it was Bramshaw to bat with Ben Chandler and Richard Cooper opening. Ben fell early on for a duck and was quickly followed by Declan and Matt Rowland. Then it was Jonty to the crease who put on 20 for the next wicket before Jonty was bowled by an extremely tall and fast bowler who picked up loads of wickets and restricted the runs. Once Richard got out it was all but over. There were a couple of batsmen at the end of the innings that lasted for quite a long time but didn’t score many runs. So well done for Rory, Ritesh, Harry and Douglas who started some good partnerships. In the end the under thirteen lost by 35 runs.
