Nomansland Cricket Club Legend

Pete Arnold

Pete was a traditional village cricketer. A stubborn, sometimes violent batsman, cunning slow medium bowler and good pair of hands in the field. He played for NCC over several years and became what turned out to be their last Club President. He was made a life member following his sterling efforts in building the NCC pavilion, and a fund raising walk to Lord's Cricket Ground.
Pete was as far as one can see the only NCC player ever to take eight wickets and score a half century in the same game (8-19 and 50* vs Woodgreen in the New Forest League in 1986). This evidently made headlines in the Western Gazette, that according to rumour, had had sold out by 10am on day of print!
